Mallory & Joey - {Utah Engagement Photography}

Before you ask, No, that is not Elijah Wood.  Joey does look just like him though, don't you think?  But don't mention it to him, because I guess he gets it all the time, lol.

Mallory and Joey were both super fun to work with when we did their engagement session.  Trapper's Loop has been super popular this year.  The fall colors of have been a bit muted, but I think Mallory hit is out of the ball park with her outfit.  She had just the right blend of colors and textures!  Believe it or not, your choice of outfits during a photoshoot can make a huge impact on the final portrait (just for fun, picture her in a bright pink puffy coat.  See what I mean?).

So, I am a silly photographer, and sometimes I have my clients do funny things.  In this case, I wanted them to get out on a tiny stump out in the pond.  No problem, right?  Joey had no trouble, but getting Mallory out there to join him without either of them falling in was an interesting feat of acrobatics!  They made it, though (whew!), and I love the way the images turned out!

Speaking of the pond, if you look in the images, you will notice some fallen trees all around.  I had never seen this out there before, and on closer inspection, we could clearly see it was caused by beavers!  I have never seen a beaver up there, and we did not see any that day, either.  But there was very strong evidence of them being there.  Fallen logs everywhere!  Joey was especially fascinated by the idea of the beavers being there, so he was super happy when I was able to get some great shots showing the fallen trees in the background.  Now every time I go out there, I keep my eyes peeled for beavers, but I have not seen any yet.  Any one else see any beavers there?

Here are some of our favorite images from their shoot!  I am excited for their wedding, but I am super bummed I have to wait all the way until next September!
Little bitty stump!  The pond was not deep at all, but it would have sucked if they would have fallen or stepped in it.

See the fallen tree?  Those beavers out there really did some damage!  If you look really close you can see where it is still connected to the stump.

Sometimes you really have to look for color and light.  This little bush was the exact color of the pants Mallory was wearing, which made perfect color harmony!  Even the rocks blended well with their outfit choice!

Not a lot of color up there, but we found just enough!

This is why I love Trapper's Loop!  What a gorgeous scene!

They looked at me funny when I told them to sit in the old dry thorn bush.  But with the right light and pose, even an old thorn bush can look gorgeous!
